Geox Marian Black Leather Ankle Boot

Urgh. When will it stop raining? Rich said to me this morning that one of his school friends posted on Facebook “bring back the snow all is forgiven”. She’s right! I’m totally fed up of re-wearing the same shoes as only a handful of pairs keep my feet warm and dry. This is such a pair.

I bought these at the end of 2012 and they have featured on here a few times since. Formal or casual, they’re great – just the right heel height for trotting around town.

Today I’m wearing them with:

Zebra print shirt – Topshop
Black Leather Full Skirt – HM
Black tights – Wolford

I’ve put my hair up today as yesterday I felt bedraggled. Another side effect of the wind and rain. At least this way it stays put.

Tomorrow I’m off to sunnier climes that are South Florida for some time at Head Office and a small jaunt around the Southern Caribbean on Carnival Breeze. Although I’m working I will be glad to see some Sunshine (although wishing my guys were coming with me!)

Whistles Cassini Mid-Heel Suede Pointed Pumps

I’m loving a bit of Navy at the moment. Its a great neutral, less harsh than black, and the bonus is that it features quite a bit in the SS14 trends I’ve been seeing.

You also know my love for all things print so I decided to pair a gingham shirt with my old Whistles Skirt to mix things up a bit today.

The shoes may be a bit of a mistake seeing as its going to rain later but I do have a spare pair of flats with me just in case. These Whistles Cassini Mid-Heel suede pumps are a great height for everyday wear and can be worn formally (like here) or equally well with jeans. Before Christmas I had them on all day around town and my feet were fine.

Today I’m wearing:
Gingham Shirt – Gap
Collar Necklace – Zara
Print Silk Skirt – Whistles
Black Opaque tights – M&S
Navy Heels – Whistles

Enjoy your days readers!

PS: Last week I had the footwear dilemma of going to New York where, after a brief panic at the airport when all flights AFTER ours were cancelled due to the snow, upon arriving it was in fact blizzard conditions. The boots held up… Just!

Tuesday Shoes-Day

Today’s shoes I’ve actually worn on the blog before but I really was having a footwear dilemma. The Dune Biker Boots were my only saviour.

I’m off to NYC with work today and its minus temperatures… VERY minus.

I don’t want to be one of these tourists who get caught out with exactly how cold it can be. Hence these flat boots. My carry on case holds another pair of boots and a pair of flats to change into but I’m thinking sturdy is the answer. My snow boots would have been overkill on the plane for one day I think!

I’ve also borrowed my MIL’s North Face down jacket as even in my plethora of coats I’m not sure I’m equipped for -13! It’s actually a really nice jacket and now I’m thinking of getting one especially as they are reduced from £320 to around £180. Bargain. Maybe in Navy? We’ll see.

The rest of my travel outfit consists of:
Skinny Jeans – For all Mankind
Striped long sleeve tee (not seen) – Boden
Horsing Around Sweat – J Crew

Let’s see what this cold is actually like!

Limited Collection Patent Courts

A quick one today. I think everyone must have these bargain shoes from M&S. Mine cost £19.50 but they are now £25 for some reason. Comfortable, a good height, admittedly not leather but therefore durable, they are a good work staple. I’ve worn them today with my take on a “bumble bee” outfit to help celebrate Calum’s nursery – Busy Bees – 30th birthday. There’s a party this afternoon and they are trying to break a world record for the number of fancy dress bumble bees.

I’m wearing:

Yellow Mohair jumper – Zara
Black Sequin skirt – Darling Clothes
50 Denier Velvet tights – Wolford
Bee Necklace – Alex Monroe

The things us Mum’s have to do 🙂 Work appropriate whilst in keeping with a theme I think!

M&S Almond Toe Slipper flats in Red Suede

I’m having a bit of a red moment. I’m not sure whether its because of the season, a little nod towards Christmas; because its grey and dull outside; or because I recently rediscovered a booklet of colours that suit me that I was given after a group ColourMeBeautiful session. Whichever way, I love it! Last week’s outfit was the start.

Plus the Red Cups are back!! 🙂

Red is such a rich colour and as my Mum’s favourite, has always featured highly in my wardrobe. It can brighten up an otherwise somber outfit, or can be head turning worn as a block.

These shoes are a great way to use it as a pick me up, especially as today’s outfit is mainly navy. This style of shoe is also great. Slightly pointed to elongate the feet but not too much so that toes are squashed.

Today I’m wearing:
Navy Merino Crew Neck Jumper – Uniqlo (Men’s)
Printed Trousers – Gap via eBay

I LOVE the extra-fine Merino men’s jumpers from Uniqlo. Size Small is the perfect “boyfriend” fit for me. Plus, they are £19.90!

Are you red wearers?

Zara Leopard Print Tassel Loafers

I love these shoes. They remind me of the shoes I used to wear for school. A pair of Black Patent Mock Croc loafers with a thin sole. It was all about the Kickers loafers when I was at school, but I wanted something different and my Next pair lasted me all sixth form.

I bought these in the sale this year for a knockdown £12.99. Amazing given I’m a size 7 and there are never 7’s left!

What I like most about these is that you can wear with dresses or trousers and look smart. The reason I’m wearing today is I’m at World Travel Market, our annual Travel Industry show, and I’m speaking!

I’m wearing them with:
Black & White dress – H&M
100 Denier Velvet-Luxe Tights – M&S

Do you have shoes that remind you of your childhood?

Zara Silver Jewelled Slider Flat Sandals

I had my eye on these sandals since I saw them on Alex’s blog. A nice alternative to Glads, but a little too much for a fashion whim just for the summer. However, the Sales came round and there they were, reduced by £17.

However, the buckle on the left shoe was broken, so I ended up getting them for under £10. A bargain which was then fixed for a small sum in the local cobblers.

I like that they are comfortable (the wide strap is supportive) and also smart enough to dress up an outfit. They were one of the “smart” flat pairs I took on holiday this summer that I wore both day and night (small luggage allowance, more on that!).

Today I’m wearing them with:

Black Jersey Biker – Whistles
Floral dress – Monsoon

I’ve had a day of showing Travel Agents around one of our ships in Dover, so needed to be smart and comfortable. It was a gorgeous day in Kent today… The white cliffs were stunning!

Would you wear flats like this for a work event?
