Tuesday Shoes-Day

Dorothy Perkins Griege Patent Courts

I don’t often use the word Griege but I think it best describes the colour of these pumps. A great nude, they go with beiges and greys, and tone in with plenty of my staple outfits.

Bought from Dorothy Perkins a while ago they have been re-heeled a few times as during the summer, they are go-to for work… smartening up both skirts and trousers. I like the almond toe too. I don’t have the narrowest of feet so a reprieve from the very pointed styles that are currently in is welcome.

Today I’m wearing them with:

Ikat print quilted jacket – H&M
Stripe tshirt – Zara
Black cropped trousers – Autograph M&S

I like the way the prints in wearing both clash and tone, and that the Griege in the Jacket picks up the shoes.

I really do need to sort my hair out. It desperately needs a cut but I just don’t have time. Baby, home remodelling (of the garden variety) and work mean my schedule is full. I need to make time!

What have you been wearing this week?

Carvela Grey Library Flats

Sometimes there is a pair of shoes you wish you’d bought in several colours (or is this nuance just me?). This is one of those pairs. Bought back in 2009 in the Kurt Geiger sale, I actually found them very uncomfortable to begin with, but as they wore-in, and the fact they have an elastic back, they became one of my go-to pairs of flat. So much so they are now in pretty bad shape (but still wearable!)

I bought the grey pair as it was a neutral that I didn’t own much of at the time, and it had silver on the toe instead of gold, but they also came in a lovely violet, plum and black. Wish I’d got these too at £19 a pair!

The detail on the toe is lovely…

A nice lift with the Metallic flower. A more subtle version of the Christian Louboutin Adona flats I like but are much more in your face!

Today I’m wearing them with:

Navy Tshirt with Black neckline – H&M Trend
Printed Pants – Per Una Speziale, M&S

I kept the shoes pretty tame today as the trousers do all the talking. It’s so nice to be able to wear lighter clothes now the weather is a tad warmer!

Oasis Purple Patent Mary Janes

I’ve had these shoes since 2007. October to be precise. The reason I know that is I bought them for an ex-colleague and now good friends’ Wedding in Jersey. However, as is my fickle nature with shoes I didn’t end up wearing them!

I don’t often buy shoes, or clothes for that matter, in Oasis. I find the sizing odd. However these were bought as I’d seen them in the window and thought they’d go nicely with the dress I had for said wedding. Turns out they were too matchy-matchy (not a bad thing but it was in this case).

Since I’ve got Spring on the brain and am sick to death of this weather I thought I’d break them out, with tights for this week (I loathe tights under trousers but needs must!) The plan back-fired when I spent a lot of the day trotting round London, meaning cold feet and ankles.

I do like their heel height though and the rich purple colour. I’m a big fan of how Patent shoes (leather or otherwise) can smarten an outfit.

I’m wearing them with:

Sequin boxy top – Cos
Floral cropped trousers – M&S

What are your thoughts on Patent shoes? Yay or Nay?

Tuesday Shoes-day

It’s a double-whammy edition today! Due to the snowy weather, and a walk to the station since the car is well and truly snowed in, I’ve had to incorporate appropriate footwear for both the trek, and the office.

First up… Classic Tall Chestnut Uggs

Granted probably not the best snow footwear, the walk isn’t far and I needed something warm as my Hunter Wellies, although more practical, left my feet freezing yesterday.

My outerwear consists of:

  • Burgundy Scarf – Zara
  • Navy & Black Faux Leather Waxed Jacket – Indigo by M&S

I’ve had these Uggs for AGES! Bought in NYC in 2006 I think, they are now soft and stretched but I love them. I did think about getting some chocolate brown replacements but didn’t in the end. When i get a hole, I’ll replace them. I know they are peoples’ shoe marmite but they work in my wardrobe. Incidentally, the jacket I’m wearing was purchased in the sale for £9 and was a Size 20 but my Mum worked her magic and took it in. Perfect!

Under the cold weather gear… Limited Collection Oxblood Patent Pumps

I love these shoes as they are so comfy and the heel makes them really easy to wear. An added bonus is that they make my feet look small, especially in these bootcut jeans. I’ve had them for about three years and bought them as I love the rich colour, that actually goes with so much.

I’m wearing them with:

  • Ditsy print Silk Top – Aubin & Wills
  • Navy & Oxblood Stripe Jacket – George at Tesco
  • Indigo Denim Bootcut Jeans – For All Mankind
  • Multi-coloured necklace – Vintage

It’s a bit of a print clash but the tones work and I love a bit if mix and match. I also don’t often get to wear jeans to work in the week so although dress-code for today was casual, I thought I go with my version of “never knowingly underdressed” casual.

What do you think? Weather-appropriate? Do you own a pair of Uggs you love and wear to death? Plus would you mix prints like this?
