Print me Up!

Sunday saw the launch of the Peter Pilotto for Target range on Net a Porter, and I was lucky enough to remember to check the site in the morning when all stock was still available. It was a stroke of genius that Net a Porter decided to exclusively stock a few of the items from the range so that those of us not lucky enough to have US shipping addresses could get hold of them.

Fast forward a couple of days and this arrived… Exciting!

I’m so impressed with the quality of the clothes. Beautiful crepe, the softest jersey and stunning prints all make this collection covetable. Here are the pieces now gracing my wardrobe.

Did you manage to get a hold of anything? Would love to know.

Sale Stars

This season I was conscious to be more savvy in my sale shopping as I usually end up with things on a whim that are worn a couple of times and then never seen again.

I have taken to pinning the standout items I like and then revisiting the website, or actual store, during sale time in the hope that I find what I want, but cheaper.

This strategy worked a treat this year. I’m not sure if it was because the sales started mega-early (two weeks before Christmas in some cases) or if it was because some are still on and there have been returns of items bought in the first few days of the sale. Either way, I managed to get the key items that were on my list, HUGELY reduced.

You’ll see from the above that three skirts are now gracing my wardrobe… The Whistles Camo Jacquard Print mini, a J Crew navy and black lace mini, and a Topshop velvet & sequin pencil.

The Whistles Camo I got a bit obsessed about, but a visit to my local store and a phone call to a store in London meant I managed to get the last one in my size for under £50. I was originally hankering after the trousers but the skirt is much more versatile.

The J Crew skirt was £148 originally and last week in NYC I managed to pick it up for about £12.50! It was reduced to $39.99 in the sale and when I got to the till it was 50% off!

The Topshop skirt I was stalking on line but it sold out in my size. I was then looking at the dress in the same fabric but the comments on the site were that it was super short… And for me not as wearable. I then found it in store for £10 in my size! Nice surprise.

As for the other items, The Gap slip on’s were shoes I’d looked at prior to the sale but a visit to a store meant I picked them up for £7.99. Gap’s store sales are much better value than the website BTW.

The Jumper and Shoes were a more high end sale purchase, the jumper being Chinti & Parker from The Outnet and the shoes being the Vixen from Russell & Bromley. Both pieces I was in love with so glad I got at a reduced price.

Did you have any sale steal stories this season? Would love to know.

#StyleMeMay: Days 11-15

20130515-110317.jpgContinuing with the challenge has been made a little easier this week due to a big wardrobe sort out I had on Sunday.

Fortuitous as I dug out the H&M Conscious Collection “painterly” print skirt I have. Made of organic cotton is has a lovely sheen to it and the soft pleats make it fall beautifully. Perfect indeed for twirling! Also reading this weeks Stylist magazine, I see that M&S’s new AW13 collections are similar in print to that skirt…

Rich hues and roses. Good to know I’m already ahead of the curve!

One of my favourite pieces is today’s Biker Jacket… Worn for the cue Second Hand. I had been coveting this jacket after seeing a girl wearing it on the Tube and I swear I made my eyesight worse by straining to see what was written on the zips. Luckily I saw it was Karen Millen. Many google searches, Bicester visits and eBay scans later I found one, in my size, on eBay. A bargain was won.

Another update to come soon. Hope you are enjoying the challenge.

#StyleMeMay: Days 1-10

I’m well aware that this is mostly a collection of pictures of my feet, but such were the nature of my choices for the #StyleMeMay challenge thus far.

It’s actually been really nice to think more about what to wear of a morning (well actually, the night before) and the sunshine at the start of May really did help.

There are a couple of entries missing here… Four Eyed and Fabulous and The Pink Ladies. I wasn’t well over Bank Holiday weekend, so those were missed.

I hope I can remain creative for the next few entries. Some (like the yellow necklace on Day 1) have required more thought since the weather hasn’t allowed for the original plan.

Lets see how things continue.

Discovered: H&M Conscious Exclusive

I love getting a surprise in my inbox, and this email from H&M didn’t disappoint today.

H&M’s Conscious Collections have always been popular, and I love the fact that buy buying any of the items means you are giving back. The store are leaders in “Sustainable Fashion” and this exclusive range marks the third for the group.

I already have the Maxi-Dress from this Summers mainline Conscious range, modelled by Vanessa Paradis, which is gorgeous. Can’t wait for sunnier days to wear it with, perhaps with a Denim jacket for cooler evenings.

However, this Exclusive collection features some wonderful Red-Carpet style pieces, from a floor length backless Dusky Pink dress, to sharp tailoring, all made from recycled fabrics.

My favourites are the black strapless dress with white waist corsage, and the Red dress covered in Roses.

Do you own any pieces from any of the collections? Which are your favourite looks above? Shop the collection here.

April is… Flat & Fabulous

Given that flat shoes are this seasons must-have footwear choice, and I have a few in my wardrobe to say the least, I’ve been spurred on by an article in this months InStyle Mag to try “a month in flats”.

This is going to be hard for me, although if I were to do this last July/August, it would have been a synch (new baby = no heels).

Heels are part of who I am and being 5’7 with a Husband who is almost 6’2 gives me license to wear them as high as I can, which used to be a whole lot higher Pre-baby. They finish off an outfit I think so making sure I am smart, as well feeling good, will be something of a challenge.

I’ll be posting my weekly shoe choices here (and possibly a hero outfit every so often if i think something really works) so you can see how in getting on. I’m hoping the weather might warm up a bit so I can sneak into my summer shoe collection… Sandals make flat-wearing a whole lot easier!

Brogues, animal print and slipper shoes are big news still, all of which feature in my collection. I am excited and nervous about this challenge!

Today was easy. Easter Monday was spent loafing with family so trainers it was (my Nike FreeRun 5.0’s)

Wish me luck for the month! Let’s see how easy this will be… I wonder if any new pairs will grace me with their presence (Hub hopes not).

Worn: Monochrome

I’m looking forward to getting rid of all this snow so that the Spring/Summer trends of 2013 can really start to be worn. Most stores are now starting to get their preliminary drops of all the new-season wares and it’s so exciting!

Some trends can be embraced now though and that’s exactly what I’m doing with this H&M dress. Actually purchased just before Christmas (and luckily too as its now mostly sold out), this dress ticks a lot of boxes – easy to wear, stunning and versatile. You’ll probably know by now that I’m not that led by trends but it ticks this box too… Monochrome.

Monochrome is set to be huge this season with anything going from stripes, zigzags, geometry and checks, so long as its black and white. Stripes would be my favourite from the above and I love how Anna from South Molton Street Style has referred to them as Beetlejuice Stripes!

I already own a couple of items that I shall be reusing, a Zara Blazer, a couple of geometric dresses and a Theory Maxi dress, but there are some bits I have my eye on too. Take a look at my Pinterest board for my wishlist/inspiration for this trend. I’m thinking I may have to get my Mum to make me a gown similar to the Oscar de la Renta one… just because. Gorgeous.

I’m wearing my H&M dress with:

Black Opaque Tights – Wolford
Black Studded Wedge Trainers – Ash

It is very similar, as Anna said, to the Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. Very similar. Quite a good buy for under £20.

Have you embraced any of the SS13 trends yet? Which are your favourites?
