Next Flat Studded Sparkle Sandals

These sandals have been a wardrobe saviour this summer. I’ve worn them casually, and for work (as seen today) and they even came on holiday with us, and were the shoe of choice whilst pounding the pavements of Rome.

I bought them as they reminded me of the sandals I loved last year from Zara (that are now selling for mega bucks on eBay).

I think I prefer these Next ones in a way though as the tan colour suits my skin tone better, making them a true nude shoe for me.

Today, they were in the right place at the right time which is why they were on my feet. I’m wearing them with:

Navy T-shirt – H&M
Black tapered trousers – Roksanda Ilincic Edition for Debenhams

Do you have shoes that remind you of another pair you wish you’d bought?!

Zara Silver Jewelled Slider Flat Sandals

I had my eye on these sandals since I saw them on Alex’s blog. A nice alternative to Glads, but a little too much for a fashion whim just for the summer. However, the Sales came round and there they were, reduced by £17.

However, the buckle on the left shoe was broken, so I ended up getting them for under £10. A bargain which was then fixed for a small sum in the local cobblers.

I like that they are comfortable (the wide strap is supportive) and also smart enough to dress up an outfit. They were one of the “smart” flat pairs I took on holiday this summer that I wore both day and night (small luggage allowance, more on that!).

Today I’m wearing them with:

Black Jersey Biker – Whistles
Floral dress – Monsoon

I’ve had a day of showing Travel Agents around one of our ships in Dover, so needed to be smart and comfortable. It was a gorgeous day in Kent today… The white cliffs were stunning!

Would you wear flats like this for a work event?

They say you learn something new every day. Well, yesterday, I came across this new App for your Instagram photos – Flipagram.

I’m a lover of taking photos, but with the dawn of digital technology, they rarely make it off my phone or my dSLR these days, forever enconsed in the virtual ether. I have made an effort at home recently to display some more treasured photos, both in print, and in Digital Photo frames, which has actually been quite liberating! This new App though has really changed things up.

You can present your favourite Instagram photos in a “slideshow”, either on their own, or to music. I had a go last night, and was so pleased with the quick and professional results. A great way of showcasing what you love most to friends and loved ones (if they don’t happend to follow you on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook).

Here’s one I made earlier, as they say. It actually made me nostalgic about the last year – more of that on another post soon.

If you haven’t already, give Flipagram a go – it’s easy and fun.

Colourful Summer

Summer brings with it a wealth of things… Long days, hopefully balmy evenings (thank goodness we’ve had a few of these this year), bright clothes and happy people to name but a few…. But mostly I enjoy the fact that one of my favourite flowers comes out in force.

I love Gladioli. After Tulips, they are my go-to flower for some colour in our home. As soon as June comes round, our weekly trolley has these blooms poking out of the end. The colours they come in and their height mean they are amazing as a focal point in any room.

I love the dark purple, white and coral blooms, but any colour will do. M&S usually have great deals on where they are £2.50 for a bunch of four stems. Great value.

I’ve always thought they’d make stunning centrepieces for a Summer Wedding… and very cost effective!

What’s your favourite summer bloom?

Tickled Pink

One of the trends I’m most looking forward to this A/W is the Pink Coat.

I love a coat. I’m so pleased I live in a climate that calls for a different set of clothes in the Winter (the husband the the house won’t agree I’m sure!). Spending this Summer on holiday in a fierce 38 degree heat has further cemented my love of all things Autumn and the advent of cooler climes.

The pink coat trend this season is one that’s so pretty… But it has to be the right shade.

Although I’m a lover of all things Fuchsia/Magenta, it’s the paler shades that have my heart racing. I’m not good with true pastels, I look like something out of the living dead, but a dusky pink shade is right up my street.

The M&S Collection coat has my name on it (along with about a million others if what I’ve read is to be believed). A lovely dusky shade of pink… Just right to brighten up that dull grey and black commute come October! I’m like a loon scouring the M&S website at the moment for its arrival.

Kate Beckinsale’s Strawberry Pink version is also gorgeous… Bracelet sleeves too.

As is Ms Mendes’. She’s always a winner style-wise in my book.

I’d love for my Mum to make me one so that I’m a little different from the crowd but I’m yet to find some wool in a shade that’s suitable. I also need to lose my current tan (not many people say that I know) but the shade I’m after will look better when I’m a slightly different shade!

Are you excited about the Pink trend? What’s caught your eye for Autumn/Winter?

Clarks Organza Shawl Tan Wedges

Wow, its been a whole month! Time flies when you’re having fun doesn’t it? In the last month we’ve had our first family holiday abroad (a Med cruise) and we’ve begun planning our house re-model (scary and exciting). Plus we’ve done some much needed catching up with friends, family and life in general… Very important!

Anyway, back to the blog and this weeks #TuesdayShoesday.

As the weather is still dry and warm, sandals are still the order of the day and these worked a treat. I had to do a lot of trekking around town today so the comfy inners and wedge heel was a godsend. They are also CLARKS which pleases my Mum no end.

I like these not only because they are comfy but also be uses they are Tan… Meaning leg-lengthening and go-with-everything in my book. Bought last summer, they were a trusty pair then too helping with pram-pushing needs.

I’m wearing them with:

Cream scoop-neck tee – Uniqlo
Bright print midi skater skirt – Topshop
Necklaces – Gracies and Alex Monroe for Evans

I’m not overjoyed by the light coloured top with this skirt. I’d have preferred a stronger colour on top but I was in a rush and half my holiday clothes are still in their ironed piles and not put away. VERY tardy me.

I’m also going to share an outfit that I wore last Tuesday (but the shoes were a repeat of these). I LOVE these trousers from ASOS and the fact I braved them with a striped top (Cos) even more… Taking inspiration from J Crew and Laura’s blog! Very pleased with the results.

I’m now on a big fitness drive, being back at the gym in earnest and loving Spinning again. Hoping that come Christmas I’ll not only physically see results but also generally be fitter and more importantly, stronger than now. Fingers crossed!
