Discovered: The Perfect Sneaker

It’s often when you aren’t looking for something that you find that little thing that really rather special.

That’s how I feel about these H&M Snakeskin sneakers. I can’t be the only one either, as no sooner had I clicked on them, I found out they were sold out in my size. Law of sod.

For a mere £14.99 they are right on trend, but also neutral enough to go with anything.

I must admit I’ve got a thing about Snakeskin print at the moment after having snapped us this Clutch in a recent 20% off day

(its looks way more expensive than it is and rivals bags at a very well known high-end High Street store that a Duchess favours!). Great for some Summer Soirees I have coming up.

I also used a discount code on this Lavish Alice top, again, very similar to a Preen one from the SS13 collection.

Have you indulged in anything Snakeskin this season? Do you consider it a perennial neutral like I do? I’m off to try and find the sneakers in-store!

Tuesday Shoes-Day

Mango Pink Block Heel Ankle Strap Sandal

Hello everyone! I’m so sorry that I’ve been MIA from the blog for a while. The first couple of weeks of June have been so busy. A friends Hen in Ibiza, home improvements and a ridiculously active almost-one-year-old have made for no time for blogging.

Here its today’s Tuesday ShoesDay. Finally, the weather is playing ball and the sandals are out for work. I first caught sight of these on Beth’s blog in March and went to try them in store. I didn’t buy them initially as with my skin tone pale pink (which they are) doesn’t always suit. Then I found myself thinking about them a lot and the outfits I could wear them with… A sure sign I was going to buy them!

Turns out they were a good buy as I’ve worn them with lots if different outfits since the summer has almost started.

Although I tend to steer clear of an ankle strap as they cut off your legs, these are in a good place, falling just on my ankle bone. I also love the block heel for all-day work comfort.

I’m wearing them with

Black Silk Tee – Gap
Snakeskin tapered trousers – M&S

The last couple of weeks have also seen me have my hair cut (much needed but no fringe this time!) and start the 5:2 way of eating.

Post-Marathon I wanted to drop a few pounds before holiday in July and I must admit, after being sceptical, its working for me. Vicki over at Honest Mum is also seeing success.

Its definitely a change in lifestyle more than a diet and very achievable. I’ve lost just under half the amount of weight I want to so far but more importantly my clothes fit nicely now… Hence digging these trousers out. Most Mum’s will know that their bodies change after having a Wee one and that’s true of mine. Although the figure on the scales isn’t what I’d like to see, the way I feel is good which is the most important thing.

I’ve been doing it for three weeks now and will continue to. I just need to get my fitness/toning routine kick-started into something regular. Time, time and more time! More on the 5:2 to come.

Good shoes today? What do you think? Do you like this summers block heel trend?

#StyleMeMay: Days 24-31

20130601-214552.jpg
It’s June people! This time last year I was waiting the arrival of our Baby Boy (although we didn’t know that then). How a year has flown by.

Anyway, June 1st sees the end of my #StyleMeMay challenge and its been a good end. I’ve especially liked wearing Sequins to work in the day.

The most challenging cue was the final one yesterday… Something out of my comfort zone . I’m not that phased by clothes, and will try most things making sure they suit my body shape and colouring. This was therefore hard, and short of wearing swimwear to the office, I didn’t really know what to do. I ended up making the cue about makeup instead, as I don’t normally do a “heavy eye” and that’s what I did.

I’m not great at evening make up and keep meaning to get some tips from the Pros. I’ll get round to it one day.

I’m now looking forward to using some “dressing” skills that I’ve learnt from taking part in this challenge.
