The Marathon Diaries: Week 1

133 days to go

The real training has begun this week, and I’m quite pleased with the miles under my belt already at this point.

I’m trying my hardest to keep my miles around the 9’50”-10′ mark and I’ve managed to keep then sub 10′ on my shorter half hour runs, but the long run today proved a challenge. A headwind running up a hill is NOT GOOD.

For now, I think I’ll be keeping my long runs on a Sunday but come the New Year I’ll be making these on a Saturday so I have Sunday to recover.

Another item on my must do list this week is a trip to Runners Need. I really need to get my gait analysed, and possibly some new shoes that will need breaking in. My right foot is playing up. Blister-city. OWW! Might add some cold weather gear to the shopping list too.

Overall though, I’m pretty happy. I’m a huge creature of habit, so the routes remain the same but at least that means it’s easier for me to better myself if I can!
